MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- Christine Kelly, Courtney Omodei and Kendall McCardell will join the Auburn University at Montgomery women's soccer team for the 2012 season, third-year head coach Jamey Newsome announced Wednesday.

Kelly, a 5-3 defender from Shelby Township, Mich., will have one season remaining with the Warhawks, after spending last season at Columbus State University and the previous two seasons at Darton College.

Last season with the Cougars, Kelly appeared in 22 games, tallying two assists and 15 shots. Prior to joining CSU, she was a two-time all-region performer at Darton for head coach Ken Veilands. As a freshman, she scored seven goals and added two assists, while as a sophomore, she notched two goals and five assists and also served as a team captain. During each season at Darton, Kelly helped the Cavaliers to the NJCAA District F championship match.

Before joining the college ranks, Kelly enjoyed a standout prep career at Eisenhower High School, where she was an all-county selection as a senior. She was also a key part of the successful Vardar Soccer Club, which won six state cup championships with Kelly on the roster.

The daughter of Ray and Marlene Kelly, she plans to major in special education while at AUM.

Omodei is a 5-8 midfielder/defender from Mindarie, Perth, Western Australia. She graduated from Woodvale Senior High School, where she played for head coach Aric Forman. She was also a member of several club teams, including N.T.C, Football West State and W.A. State Schoolgirls.  

While at Woodvale, Omodei was selected a team captain in 2008 and 2009. She was chosen into the National Training Center Program all four seasons and was awarded the Player of the Grand Final Award in 2010. She was also named to the Football West Western Australian State Team following all four seasons.

She is the daughter of Peter Omodei and plans to major in general physical science at AUM.

McCardell is a 5-5 center midfielder/left back, who prepped at Wando High School for head coach Shannon Champ in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

A three-year letterwinner with the varsity program, McCardell helped the Warriors to consecutive South Carolina 4A State Championships and was selected the championship most valuable player in 2011. She was also a member of the South Carolina United Mount Pleasant club team, where she helped the squad to the 2010 and 2011 Mount Pleasant Select Shootout Championship, as well as the 2011 Charlotte United Cup Championship.

McCardell is the daughter of Ken and Camille McCardell. She plans to major in pre-physical therapy while at AUM.

The trio will join Warhawk newcomers Arna Omarsdottir (Defender-Midfielder/Reykjavik, Iceland/University of Iceland) and Asta Einarsdottir (Midfielder/Kopavogur, Iceland/University of Iceland) for the upcoming season.
