MOBILE, Ala. ---- LaKenya Drayton grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, and Psachal Maize continued her recent strong play with 19 points, but it was not enough tonight for the Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team.

The Warhawks fell 66-59 on the road at Spring Hill, losing for only the fifth time in 39 career matchups against the Badgers. Spring Hill used an 8-0 run in the final 90 seconds of the first half to take a double-digit lead into the intermission, and the Warhawks were never able to recover.

The game was close throughout much of the first half, though AUM's only lead came in the opening minute of the game on a Drayton layup. The Badgers (8-10, 5-4 SSAC) led just 32-29 with 1:36 remaining, but extended their lead to 40-29 before the buzzer.

AUM (13-5, 6-2) got as close as five in the second half after a Maize jumper made the score 44-39. Spring Hill gradually pulled away, however, leading by as much as 16 points en route to the win.

Drayton added 10 points to go along with her 17 boards, which were the most by a Warhawk this season.  The double-double was her sixth of the season and her 15th overall at AUM.

Maize shot 7-of-13 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. She added seven rebounds and a team-high three assists. The junior guard has now scored in double figures in three of the last four games.

Junior Katie Williams added 15 points for the Warhawks, hitting three shots from 3-point range. Ashley Rush chipped in seven points off the bench.

Both teams hit 23 shots from the field. The Badgers, though, hit seven 3-pointers compared to only four for AUM. The Warhawks also struggled from the free-throw line, hitting just 9-of-18 attempts. Spring Hill shot 13-of-20 from the line.

The Warhawks return to the AUM Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. matchup against Belhaven. The first 150 students to show their ID will receive a free sixth man t-shirt courtesy of AUM athletics.
