MONTGOMERY, Ala. ----- Along with a pair of quality Southern States Athletic Conference basketball games, the Auburn Montgomery athletic department will also offer fans two additional highlights at its Saturday home doubleheader against William Carey.

Fans at the games will be treated to the sweet sounds of the Auburn University Pep Band, which will be making its sixth appearance in as many years to the AUM campus. For the past five seasons, the band has attended a doubleheader at AUM in an effort to provide an additional element to the atmosphere of home basketball games.

In addition to providing additional support of AUM student-athletes at the game, the pep band also offers a variety of chart-topping hits from as far back as the 60s and 70s, as well as many of today's top musical hits.

Along with the annual visit by the pep band, AUM will also celebrate the first birthday of its mascot, Curtiss the Warhawk.

Unveiled on Feb. 2, 2012, Curtiss has been very active in his first year. He made 69 total appearances, including 34 community service activities, 19 AUM athletic events and 16 university events. He also participated in the University Cheerleading Association's three-day mascot camp at the University of Tennessee, where he was presented an award for the Best All-Around First Year Program.

In honor of his birthday, cupcakes will be served between games of the doubleheader.

The doubleheader with William Carey is slated to begin at 2 p.m., with the Warhawks taking on the Lady Crusaders. The men's game is scheduled to tip at approximately 4 p.m.

AUM students, faculty and staff are admitted to the game free of charge. General admission for the contest is $5 and $3 for high school and non-AUM students.
