MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- Pitchers Eran Franks and Chad Reeves set the tone for the Auburn Montgomery baseball team against Truett-McConnell this afternoon. The pair combined to allow just one earned run, leading the Warhawks to 5-1 and 6-2 victories over the Bears to seal a three-game sweep.

AUM is now back over .500 in the Southern States Athletic Conference, moving to 15-9 (5-4 SSAC). The Bears (4-16, 2-10 SSAC) have lost nine straight games.

Franks (3-2) struck out a season-high seven batters over six innings in Game 1, giving up an unearned run, five hits and a walk. He received plenty of early support from his offense, with the Warhawks jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning.

Blake Bearden and Hayden Hillyer hit back-to-back singles to start the frame. After a Shane Turner sacrifice, Brandon Pooler walked to load the bases. Brett Wellman plated the first run with a sacrifice fly to right. Branden Kelley, Chad Mansmann and Wes Hughes each then delivered two-out RBI singles to extend AUM's advantage.

Truett scored their only run in the top of the third on a Buck Harris sacrifice fly. Wellman immediately responded in the bottom of the inning with AUM's fourth two-out run-scoring single of the afternoon. The junior catcher drove in two runs for the second-straight game after entering the series with two RBIs for the season.

The Bears went quietly for the rest of the seven-inning contest. Erik Lawrence pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to clinch the win.

Mansmann was the lone Warhawk to pick up two hits, while Hillyer went 1 for 1 with a walk and two runs scored. Kirby Allis (1-3) surrendered five runs over four innings for Truett.

Reeves (3-2) lasted a season-long eight innings to lead AUM in Game 2. The junior right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) on nine hits and three walks while striking out five. He has now given up just one earned run over 14 innings in his last two starts.

AUM's offense once again had a strong start to the game, scoring three runs in the opening inning off of Bears starter Alex Jordan (1-1). Mansmann, Hughes and Shelby Nobles all singled to start the game, with Nobles' knock through the left side scoring Mansmann for the first run.

A double steal got the pair into scoring position for Hillyer, who was credited with a RBI after reaching on an error by Truett shortstop Hayden Fleming. Pooler hit into a fielder's choice to score the final run of the first, and he also added a two-out RBI single in the third to make it 4-0.

Nobles added his second RBI on a sacrifice fly in the fourth. He drove in multiple runs for the second time this season.

The Bears scored their only two runs in the top of the fifth. Bryan Young rounded out the scoring in the eighth, ripping a RBI double down the left field line to score Pooler. Young, Pooler and Mansmann each had a pair of hits for AUM. Pooler matched a season-high with two runs driven in.

Britt Wilson shut down the Bears in the ninth to wrap up the doubleheader. AUM gave up just four runs in the three-game series, which was the first ever between the schools.

The Warhawks will remain at home for their next game against Division II North Alabama on Tuesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the AUM Baseball Complex.
