MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The second-ranked Auburn Montgomery women's tennis team ended play at the AUM Spring Invitational with a perfect 3-0 record after rolling past 22nd-ranked Cumberland 7-2 at Lagoon Park this morning.

The Warhawks won all seven contested matches, forfeiting the other two due to competing with only five players. AUM is now 7-2 this year, while the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 1-3.

Jade Curtis, Tiffany William, Chanel Cunningham and Hagar Caro each won their singles matches in straight sets, dropping a combined seven games.  Maria Fernanda Vargas picked up AUM's fifth singles win with a 6-0, 3-6, 10-2 victory from the No. 4 position.

Caro won by a 6-0, 6-0 score for the second time this season, improving to 7-2 overall in singles. William, who lost just two games at No. 2 singles, has yet to drop a set in nine matches this year.

In doubles, Curtis/William and Caro/Cunningham each had relatively easy victories, winning by 8-2 and 8-4 margins, respectively. The tandems both went 3-0 during the tournament after limited playing experience together prior to the weekend.

AUM will now prepare for a challenging Spring Break trip to Florida in the upcoming week. The Warhawks play three straight road matches Wednesday through Friday at Lynn, Barry and Rollins. Wednesday's match at Lynn begins at Noon. The Fighting Knights (8-1) are currently ranked eighth in NCAA Division II.
