NORCROSS, Ga. ----- Auburn Montgomery junior shortstop Jyssica Pepper was selected the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week, while sophomore hurler Cassie Daniels was chosen the SSAC Pitcher of the Week, following strong performances last week at the Gulf Coast Invitational.

Pepper joins sophomore teammate Katie Spain as 2013 league player of the week honorees, while Daniels becomes the first AUM pitcher since four-time All-American Brandi Richards to claim the honor. Spain garnered player of the week accolades for the week of Feb. 18-24, while Richards earned the recognition during the final week of last season.

In five games, Pepper finished with a .571 batting average, collecting 8 hits in 14 at bats. She hit two home runs and added a triple en route to posting a 1.143 slugging percentage for the week. She scored three times, stole a base and recorded a .600 on-base percentage. The highlight of Pepper's week came against No. 15 Lindsey Wilson, where she blasted her fourth home run of the season to provide the lone run of the game. The Madison, Ala., native also homered against Thomas University.

Daniels was equally impressive in the circle for the Warhawks, as she captured two of the team's four wins on the week. The native of Valley Grande, Ala., tossed 18 total innings during the week, allowing just one earned run and eight hits, while striking out 27. She finished 2-0, throwing shutouts against both LSU-Alexandria and the Blue Raiders. She also collected a save with three efficient innings of relief against the Night Hawks. In her two starts, Daniels allowed just eight hits and struck out 19. She recorded a 0.39 earned run average for the week and improved to 6-0 on the year.

For the season, Pepper ranks second on AUM's team in hitting (.488), home runs (4) and runs batted in (15). She has stolen a team-best seven bases without being caught and has walked a team-leading eight times. Pepper also had a team-high four triples.Daniels leads the team with the six victories, 38 1/3 innings pitched and 64 strikeouts. She has allowed opponents to hit just .143 and sports a 1.64 ERA for the year.

The eighth-ranked Warhawks will return to action on Wednesday, March 13, when they travel to Lakeland, Fla., to take on Southeastern University in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
