NORCROSS, Ga. ----- Auburn Montgomery senior men's tennis standout Tim Hewitt has been selected the Southern States Athletic Conference's Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Hewitt earned the honor for the second time this season, as he was also named the player of the week following the week of Feb. 18-24.
For the week, the Bournemouth, England, native finished with a 3-1 singles record and a 4-0 doubles mark, competing at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles play. Hewitt helped the Warhawks to a perfect 4-0 mark, with all four victories coming against ranked opponents. He captured straight-set wins against the top singles player from No. 12 Belhaven, No. 15 Campbellsville and No. 17 Graceland. His lone defeat came to No. 10 Xavier's top player, former AUM All-American Loic Didavi, where he fell in a super tie-break set. In doubles, he dropped just 12 games in four matches.
On the year, Hewitt sports a 7-2 singles record and an 8-1 mark in doubles play. He has teamed with fellow senior Bence Toth to post a perfect 7-0 record in doubles. Hewitt has played all his singles matches at either the first of second position, while all his doubles matches have been played at the No. 1 spot.
Hewitt and the Warhawks will return to action on Wednesday, March 13, when they travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to take on Lynn University at 12 p.m.
