NORCROSS, Ga. ---- After not allowing an earned run across 17 innings, Auburn Montgomery sophomore pitcher Cassie Daniels was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday for the third time this season.

Daniels won all three of her starts over conference opponents, and she also closed out AUM's 9-5 victory over Faulkner. She surrendered just one unearned run, striking out 31 and walking only five.

Against Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, Daniels tied a season and career-high with 12 strikeouts. It was the third time this season she has struck out at least 10 batters in a game.

The Valley Grande, Ala., native pitched a complete-game one-hitter in AUM's five-inning 15-0 win over Faulkner, fanning eight batters with a first inning bunt single keeping her from a no-hitter.

Daniels has not allowed an earned run in 21 consecutive innings, breaking her previous career-best of 19 2/3 innings set last March. She is the first Warhawk pitcher to be recognized by the conference three-times in a season.

In 2013, Daniels has a 15-1 record with 151 strikeouts over 105 2/3 innings for the Warhawks (34-5, 12-4 SSAC). Her earned run average of 1.66 is the lowest on the team.

The Warhawks return to action with a 2 p.m. home doubleheader against Belhaven on Friday.
