MT. VERNON, Ga. ----- Senior Cesar Kestring scored twice to lead the No. 13 Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team to its fifth straight win and a 4-2 victory at Brewton-Parker on Friday.
With the win, the Warhawks improved to 7-4 on the season and remained undefeated in league play at 4-0. The Barons fell to 3-8 overall and 0-5 in conference games.
AUM never trailed in the match against the Barons, taking its first lead in the fifth minute on a goal by sophomore Alan Harwell. The goal marked the team-leading seventh score of the season for Harwell and was assisted by senior Taian Souza.
David Preciado followed with a goal at the 17:12 mark of the contest, but sophomore Sebastian Wladyko netted a penalty kick in the 28th minute to give the Warhawks the lead for good.
Kestring scored his first goal of the match just 43 seconds into the second half, while adding an insurance goal in the 72nd minute. Sophomore Niklas Hunold and junior Elvar Sigurdsson assisted on the goals.
Preciado added a second goal of the match in the 54th minute, which pulled BPC to within one goal.
Freshman Phillip Hitpass stopped four shots in the match to earn his second win of the season.
For the game, the Warhawks held a 26-6 advantage in total shots. Sigurdsson and Kestring led all players with five shots each.
AUM will return to action on Saturday, when it travels to Southern Poly for a 2 p.m. contest.
