The men's tennis team won its 10th consecutive SSAC Championship Saturday.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- For the 10th consecutive season, the Auburn Montgomery men's tennis team hoisted the championship trophy at the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament, as it defeated Belhaven 5-0 Saturday at Lagoon Park.

With the win, the Warhawks (22-3) earned the SSAC's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Tournament. AUM, which owns nine NAIA National Championships, will be making its 22nd all-time appearance

The Warhawks were tested by the Blazers early, but were able to secure a 3-0 lead after doubles.

At the top spot, AUM's nationally-ranked duo of Josh Reason and Francisco Mendieta were pushed by Nikita Lisov and David Mejia, before ultimately taking a 9-7 win. Zinelabidine Jouini and Othmane Lalami took an 8-6 decision at the No. 2 position, while Miguel Grifol and Nicolas Pinones-Haltenhoff completed the sweep with an 8-4 result at the No. 3 spot..

In singles, Grifol defeated Mejia is straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 5 position, bumping the AUM lead to 4-0. Jouini sealed the championship by defeating Lisov at the No. 2 spot, by a score of 6-0, 6-2.

The Warhawks will now await their opponent in the 63rd annual Men's Tennis National Championship, held May 13-17 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala. Seeding and brackets have yet to be announced.
