MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The Auburn Montgomery softball team swept this week's Southern States Athletic Conference's weekly awards, as junior first baseman Jade Sasser was selected the league Player of the Week and fellow junior pitcher Cassie Daniels was voted the conference Pitcher of the Week.
The duo helped the Warhawks sweep two doubleheaders, including a pair of shutout victories against No. 20 Brenau.
During the span, Sasser hit .455 in four games, with a double, a home run and driving in nine runs. She also walked twice and scored three times. She posted a slugging percentage of .818 for the week and an on-base percentage of .538. Sasser also recorded a perfect fielding percentage in 28 chances. She began the week by blasting a three-run homer against Brenau, before going 4-for-5 with a double, six RBIs, two walks and two runs scored in a twin bill against Southern Wesleyan.
Daniels finished the week with a 2-0 record, as she tossed a pair of complete games and posted 17 strikeouts. She recorded a 1.50 earned run average and allowed just nine hits in 14 innings. Daniels opened the week with a four-hit shutout of the Golden Tigers, striking out nine and not walking a batter. In her second appearance, she scattered five hits and struck out eight in a victory over Southern Wesleyan.
The Warhawks return to action Friday, April 25, when they take on Brewton-Parker in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. AUM will also travel to Coastal Georgia for a twin bill Saturday.
