KANSAS CITY, Mo. ------ Following the completion of the 10 Opening Round Tournaments from across the country, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the seeds and the bracket for the 2014 Softball World Series.
The 10-team event will take place from May 23-29 at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Ga. The facility was home to the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. The Columbus Sports Council serves as the host in the double-elimination event.
The Warhawks (40-6) earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will await the winner of No. 7 seed Lindsey Wilson and No. 10 seed College of Idaho. The game will be played on Saturday, May 24 at 4 p.m. EDT.
AUM is one of three returning to the World Series. No. 5 seed Reinhardt is making its fourth straight appearance, while No. 8 seed Oklahoma City is making its 23rd consecutive trip. The Warhawks are 5-4 all-time in World Series play.
The top seed in the tournament was awarded to LSU Alexandria. The Generals are 35-3 and will take on the winner of eighth-seeded Stars and No. 9 seed Simpson at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The remaining two games will feature No. 3 seed Olivet Nazarene taking on No. 6 seed William Carey and No. 4 St. Gregory's against fifth-seeded Eagles.
