
Savannah Brown and AUM Cross Country team participated in the Southeast Classic on Saturday.

ROME, Ga. --- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's and women's cross country teams continue its inaugural season on Saturday by participating in the Southeast Cross Country Classic, a meet hosted by Berry College that featured more than 600 runners and 69 teams.
The AUM women's team finished 32 of 35 participating teams, while the men's squad finished 34th.
For the fifth consecutive meet, senior Rachel Cunningham paced the women's team, posting a school-record time of 21:15 on the 5K course. Cunningham finished 126 of 310 women in the field.
Junior Katherine Toy continued her strong campaign with a time of 22:15 to finish 179th, while sophomore Savannah Brown finished 257th, with a time of 24:10. Freshman Jordan Holley and junior Katie Cornelius rounded out the scoring with times of 26:59 and 29:43, respectively.
Indiana Wesleyan took home top honors on the women's side, finishing with 107 total points, nine ahead of second-place finishing Centre. Lindsey Wilson's Sharon Ronoh earned individual medalist honors, finishing in a time of 17:49.
For the men's team, freshman Adam Russell improved his school-record 8K time with a 31:52 to finish 262nd in the 309 man field. Fellow freshman Ryan Schwarzman continued to show improvement, as he bettered his personal-best by 10 seconds, finishing in 31:52 to finish 270th. Junior Cortez Lewis finished closely behind with a time of 32:23.
Junior Spencer Youmans posted a time of 35:29 to finish 296th, while senior Nathan Brown finished in 37:04. Sophomore Jery McGough and senior Brent Amburn rounded out the times for AUM, finishing in 38:18 and 41:35, respectively.
Bryan College cruised to the team championship, finishing with 65 points, while Savannah College of Art and Design placed second with a total of 129. Evans Kirwa captured the individual title, posting a time of 24:17, an average of 4:53 per mile.
Both the Warhawks' teams will conclude their season on Saturday, Nov. 5, when they participate in the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship at the Choctaw Trails in Choctaw, Miss.
