MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- Senior Alex Hergott scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, but the Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team could not overcome four Faulkner players scoring in double figures, as it fell 66-56 on Thursday.

With the loss, the Warhawks fell to 5-17 on the season and 2-10 in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Eagles improved to 11-11 overall and 4-8 in the league.

AUM was led by sophomore Marquez Brooks, who scored 17 points, while senior Michael Lee added 10 points. Sophomore A.J. Ansley and freshman Trey Geter each chipped in eight points. In the contest, the Warhawks tallied only three bench points, a 3-pointer by freshman Cameron Pridemore in the first half.

The Warhawks took a 12-11 lead on a lay-up by Brooks with 12:04 remaining in the first half, but Faulkner took the lead for good with 11:17 to play in the period on a lay-in by Jamarious Alderson. The Eagles extended their lead to as many as nine points on a pair of occasions in the opening half, but AUM closed stanza with an 8-2 spurt during the final 3:59.

In the second half, the Warhawks cut the margin to as little as one point, 43-42, with 12:46 on a basket by Lee. However, the Eagles followed with an 11-2 run to push their advantage to double figures, 54-44. AUM cut the lead to as few as six points, 60-54, with 1:51 to play before Faulkner settled on the final 10-point margin.

For the game, AUM converted just 20-of-60 shots from the floor, while the Eagles knocked down 48 percent.

Adam Okechukwu led all players with 20 points, while Jake Mitchell and Chris Palmore each added 11 points. Palmore also chipped in 10 rebounds and six assists.

The Warhawks will return to action on Saturday, when they host Belhaven at 4 p.m.
