KANSAS CITY, Mo. ----- Auburn University at Montgomery senior standout Kveta Hajkova has been selected the NAIA Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
The Bratislava, Slovakia, native, became the second Warhawks player to earn the national player of the week honor, joining sophomore Jade Curtis, who was recognized in week one.
Hajkova capped a perfect 24-0 season in singles play by going 3-0 without dropping a single game in the three matches. She also won all three of her doubles matches.
On the week, she defeated Mobile's Emily Kolakoski, Shorter's Iesha Holton and Brenau's Eline Nagels by 6-0, 6-0 scores, as the Warhawks won their fifth consecutive SSAC Tournament Championship. In doubles play, she teamed with Morgane Zowczak to win by scores of 8-0, 8-1 and 8-4, respectively.
In addition to a perfect singles record, Hajkova has also been strong in doubles play, posting a 19-2 mark.
With their victory in the SSAC Championship, Hajkova and the Warhawks (22-2) earned the SSAC's automatic berth to the NAIA Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, held May 15-19 in Mobile, Ala. AUM's opponent has yet to be determined.
