MONTGOMERY, Ala. ----- Auburn University at Montgomery sophomore men's tennis standout Zinelabidine Jouini was selected the final recipient of the Army ROTC Athletic Achievement Award for the 2011-12 school year on Tuesday, for his efforts both on and off the court.

Criteria for the Army ROTC Athletic Achievement Award includes being certified for eligibility and involved in participation of a varsity sport; performance on the field or court during the previous two weeks; contributions to the team's success through their individual leadership skills, their commitment to teamwork, their extra effort during practice and their demonstration of sportsmanship; and performance off the field of play, including academic success, character and exemplary community outreach.

During the two-week span of his nomination, Jouini posted a 5-0 singles record and 4-1 mark in doubles play, while helping the Warhawks to a 5-0 record and the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. In singles, he recorded a victory at the No. 4 spot and four wins at the No. 5 position, while teaming with Nicolas Pinones-Haltenhoff at the No. 2 doubles spot in all five matches.

A member of the SSAC All-Academic team this past season, Jouini sports a 3.48 grade point average, while majoring in pre-engineering.

He is active in the community, having spent time collecting toys for children locally, while also collecting toys and toiletry items for underprivileged children in other countries. In addition, Jouini assisted with a local marathon at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival Park.

Jouini and the Warhawks will return to action on Wednesday, May 16, when they take on the winner of Asbury (Ky.) and Concordia (Calif.) at 1 p.m., in the second round of the 2012 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championships in Mobile, Ala.
