MOBILE, Ala. ----- The No. 5 Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team opened its quest for a 10th national championship with a 5-1 victory over Concordia (Calif.) Wednesday in the second round of the NAIA Men's Tennis National Championships, held at the Mobile Tennis Complex.

Following the doubles portion of the match, AUM held a 2-1 advantage, as it picked up victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively. Nicolas Pinones-Haltenhoff and Zinelabidine Jouini earned an 8-6 win at the second spot, while Marlu Jansen Van Vuuren and Matias Dasso teamed to capture an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 position.

The Warhawks capped the match with three straight-set singles victories from the bottom portion of their lineup. At the No. 4 position, Jansen Van Vuuren defeated Ryan McNamara, 6-4, 6-3, while Jouini made short work of Micah Groom, 6-1, 6-0, at the fifth spot. Dasso also earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 6 position.

With the win, the Warhawks improved to 17-7 on the season and will now take on No. 4 Azusa Pacific at 1 p.m. Thursday. With the loss, Concordia ends its season with a 9-13 record.
