MOBILE, Ala. ----- Auburn University at Montgomery senior standout Ana Veselinovic was one of 121 women's tennis student-athletes to earn 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete honors, the national office announced following the completion of the National Championship Tournament.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Veselinovic, who sports a 3.59 grade point average in sports management, finished her final season with the Warhawks in dominating fashion.
The Herceg-Novi, Montenegro native helped AUM to its second consecutive national championship and eighth in nine years, following a 5-2 victory against Embry-Riddle this weekend.
On the season, Veselinovic finished 23-2 in singles matches, playing all but one match at the top position. She was also 28-0 in doubles play, seeing action exclusively at the No. 1 position. She won her final six singles matches and posted a 10-2 record against ranked opponents. Veselinovic was also selected the Marvin P. Richmond Outstanding Player of the 2012 tournament.
Belhaven (Miss.) and Huntington (Ind.) led all institutions with six student-athletes each on the list.
