MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's soccer program and head coach Wulf Koch has announced the signing of Mathis Kroeger and Niklas Hunold for the 2012 season.

Both Kroeger and Hunold join the Warhawks following successful club careers in Germany. Kroeger is a 6-0, 175-pound defender from Bremen, while Hunold is a 6-2, 170-pound defender/midfielder from Lueneberg. Each will be freshman at AUM.

Kroeger currently plays for Werder Bremen U19 in the U19 Regionalliga. He was a member of the U15/U16/U18 all-star state team last year and attended Oberschule an der Ronzelenstraße.

While at AUM, Kroeger plans to major in sport sciences, business administration or biology.

"Mathis is an outstanding player and we are excited about adding him to our program," Koch said of Kroeger. "He reads the game extremely well and is presence in the air."

Hunold is a current member of the club Lueneburger SK of the Niedersachsenliga, where is a U19 team captain. He attended Gymnasium Oedeme and intends to major in business at AUM.

"Niklas is a very good defender, has a great ability to control the ball and plays quality balls forward," Koch said of Hunold. "We are excited to add him to our program."

The duo joins Tim Kayser (5-6, 145/Sophomore/Outside Back/Starnberg, Germany), Atli Johannsson (6-4, 190/Sophomore/Defender/Reykjavik, Iceland), Axel Vignisson (5-10, 170/Sophomore/Left Defender-Midfielder/Reykjavik, Iceland), Agust Arnarson (5-11, 170/Forward/Reykjavik, Iceland) Alexander Neubarth (6-1, 175/Freshman/Defender/Midfielder/Bremen, Germany) and Daniel Grobelny (6-4, 190/Freshman/Defender/Sindelfingen, Germany) as new additions to the Warhawks for the 2012 season.
