ORANGE BEACH, Ala. ---- Freshman Vitor Silva scored his fourth goal of the 2010 season, but it was not enough as the No. 23 Auburn University at Montgomery men's soccer team was defeated by Northwood (Texas) University in the finale of the University of Mobile Classic on Saturday.
With the loss, the Senators fall to 4-4-2 on the season, while the Knights improved to 3-4 overall.
In a scoreless match, Silva scored off a pass from junior
Thomas Lindemann in the 28th minute to give AUM a 1-0 lead. Silva is now tied for the team-lead with the four goals with sophomore
Tornubari Nyonebue.
Despite the early goal, the Knights battled back to tie the score with just 7:22 remaining before the half on a goal by Sam Valosek.
The deciding score came from Gabriel Elizondo with 34:26 left in the second half, with Valosek and Adrian Escobar assisting.
For the match, AUM recorded 12 shots, while holding the Knights to just eight. Lindemann led the Senators with five shots, while Valosek paced all players with six shots.

AUM will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 29, when it hosts in-state foe Montevallo at 4 p.m.
