KANSAS CITY, Mo. ---- The Auburn University at Montgomery women's soccer team was ranked fifth in the first official NAIA Women's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI), the national office announced Wednesday.

"We are excited about seeing how we stand among other teams nationally," head coach Jamey Newsome said. "We realize that we still have a lot of soccer left to play, but this is a great way to start the MRPI rankings."

The MRPI consists of the team's modified winning percentage, their opponents' winning percentage and the cumulative ratings points from the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.

Lee (Tenn.) University earned the top spot in the MRPI, and was followed by No. 2 Lindsey Wilson, No. 3 Concordia, No. 4 Oklahoma City and the Warhawks at No. 5. AUM, making its first-ever top-five ranking, posted a MRPI 0.82307, compared to Lee's 0.891641.

The MRPI - first adopted in 2010 - will select the at-large qualifying teams and seed the 32-team national championship field. Since it was established only three teams have held the No. 1 position - Concordia (3), Lindsey Wilson (3) and Lee (2).

The next MRPI will be announced on Oct. 24.
