MONTGOMERY, Ala. ----- Sophomore Elvar Sigurdsson scored twice in a 24-second span to lead the No. 3 Auburn University at Montgomery men's soccer team past Brewton-Parker 3-1 in Southern States Athletic Conference play Friday at the AUM Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Warhawks improved to 7-1-1 on the season and remained perfect in SSAC matches at 3-0. The Barons fell to 3-6-1 overall and 0-3 in league play.

"I was extremely disappointed by our effort today," head coach Wulf Koch said. "In games like these, you are happy to get a win, but we have to do a better job or else teams will make us pay for a lot of the mistakes that we made."

Sigurdsson, who scored his second and third goal of the season in the match, put AUM on the board at the 28:10 mark of the first half, taking a pass from freshman Sebastian Wladyko and beating BPC goalkeeper Damian O'Hare.

Seconds later junior Baron Watson fed Sigurdsson for a second time to put the Warhawks up 2-0.

AUM maintained the two-goal lead through halftime and early into the second half, but Sam Haynes scored for the Barons on a defensive let-down in the 54th minute, to pull the visitors with one.

The Warhawks added an insurance goal with 2:47 remaining in the contest, when freshman Niklas Hunold finished a deflected Sigurdsson shot to provide the final margin of 3-1.

In the match, AUM held a 28-4 advantage in total shots, led by Sigurdsson's match-high eight. Watson, Wladyko and Gonzalez each added three shots for the Warhawks.

In goal, senior Bosko Kovacevic earned his first victory of the season. O'Hare stopped nine shots in the loss for the Barons
