NORCROSS, Ga. ---- After a four goal, two assist weekend, Auburn Montgomery sophomore midfielder Elvar Sigurdsson was named the Southern States Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

It is the second time this season that an AUM player has been recognized by the SSAC. Vignir Johannesson won the Defensive Player of the Week award earlier in the season.

"I'm honored to receive this award," Sigurdsson said. "But ultimately, it's the team that wins and I'm just happy to be able to contribute to our success this season."

Sigurdsson played a key role in the Warhawks' pair of victories over the weekend. In a 3-1 victory against Brewton-Parker on Friday, he factored in all three goals, picking up two goals and an assist.

The two goals came in a span of only 24 seconds in the first half. He then assisted on Niklas Hunold's 88th minute goal which put the game away for AUM.

The following afternoon, Sigurdsson registered another two goal, one assist performance in the team's 8-0 rout of Emmanuel. He currently leads the team in goals (5), assists (4), points (14) and shots (36).

AUM is off to an 8-1-1 start this season, and the team is on a six-game winning streak. The Warhawks return to action on Wednesday night at conference foe Mobile.

SSAC Player of the Week Awards are announced each Monday by the conference.
