Women's Soccer - Tue. Oct. 09, 2012

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ---- The NAIA released its sixth Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll earlier today, and the Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team remained in the No. 12 spot despite losing its only match of the week.

AUM's loss was a tight 1-0 defeat to top-5 conference opponent Mobile. The Warhawks had a 12-7 shot advantage, but were unable to push a goal across. The Lady Rams moved up to the No. 4 position after their win.

The 9-1-1 record for the Warhawks in their first 11 games is the best team performance since 2004, when the program started the season 12-1.

Concordia held on to the top spot for the fifth consecutive week after winning both of its matches. The Cavaliers received 591 points and 20 of the 21 first place votes. They are one of four unbeaten programs left in the NAIA.

Lee and Lindsey Wilson maintained the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Southern States Athletic Conference member William Carey jumped up to No. 5, while previously No. 4 Oklahoma City dropped four spots after its first loss of the season.

With four teams represented, the SSAC remains tied with the Golden State Athletic Conference for most teams in the poll. All four SSAC teams are ranked in the top-12.

AUM received 373 points. The Warhawks have been 12th or 13th in the last five additions of the poll.

The Warhawks continue a stretch of four-straight games against opponents receiving national recognition this week. AUM travels to Lee on Thursday before returning home to face Brenau, which is currently receiving votes in the NAIA poll.
