AUM News
Women's Soccer - Tue. Oct. 23, 2012

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ---- The NAIA released its eighth Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll earlier today, and the Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team fell four spots to No. 23 after a 0-1-1 week.

The Warhawks continued to struggle offensively, as they were shutout in both matches. After a tight 1-0 loss to No. 5 William Carey, however, the team ended its four game losing streak with a 0-0 tie at Spring Hill. AUM outshot the Badgers 31-5 in that match.

Holly Clarke picked up her second individual shutout in the Spring Hill tie, and she made six saves overall last week. AUM points leader Margret Albertsdottir led the Warhawks with 10 shots in the two games, while Maria Ros Arngrimsdottir added eight.

Southern States Athletic Conference member Lee returned to the No. 1 spot for the first time since Sept. 4. The Lady Flames, who were the preseason No. 1, drew against D-III Emory and defeated Southern Wesleyan last week.

Lindsey Wilson also moved up one spot to No. 2, while former No. 1 Concordia dropped to the third position after losing in double overtime to unranked Northwest Christian.

SSAC members Mobile and William Carey rounded out the top five, and the conference continues to lead the poll with five teams represented. Brenau, the fifth team from the SSAC, is ranked 17th.

The Warhawks (9-4-4, 4-4-1) have a pair of home matches this week, beginning on Wednesday afternoon with a 1 p.m. contest against Belhaven.
