MONTGOMERY, Ala. ----- The No. 5 Auburn University at Montgomery men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 15 Belhaven in Southern States Athletic Conference Wednesday at the AUM Soccer Complex.

With the loss, the Warhawks fell to 12-3-2 on the season and 7-2-1 in SSAC. The Blazers improved to 14-2-1 overall and are now also 7-2-1 in the league.

"I am disappointed in our ability to perform in a big game," head coach Wulf Koch said. "This loss really shows just how tough our conference is and the magnitude of every single conference game. Today's result makes Saturday's match against Faulkner that much more important."

After the two squads played to a scoreless tie in the opening half, the Blazers took the lead for good on a penalty kick at the 67:55 mark of the match. Eduardo Cruz netted the PK for Belhaven.

The Blazers added a second goal with 32 seconds remaining in the contest when Loic Miliani blasted a shot past an exhausted Johannesson. Prior to the score, Johannesson was sent to the opposite end of the field in an effort to put an additional man on offense as the Warhawks attempted to tie the score. On a dead spring from one box to the other, Johannesson reached a defensive position as Miliani's shot left his foot from inside 10 feet.

On the day, AUM outshot the Blazers 15-10, with junior Vitor Silva leading all players with five shots. Sophomore Elvar Sigurdsson gave the Warhawks their best scoring opportunity in 73rd minute, but his shot off a deflected shot by Cesar Kestring went wide.

In goal, Johannesson finished with two saves, while Carl Blundell made just one stop in the shutout.

AUM will look to rebound on Saturday, October 27, when it hosts cross-town conference rival Faulkner at 7:30 p.m. The contest will be played at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex.
