KANSAS CITY, Mo. ----- The NAIA released its second of three Modified Ratings Percentage Index rankings for the 2012 season on Wednesday, and the Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team checked in at No. 2 in the poll.

The MRPI was introduced in 2010 to help determine seeding and at-large bids for the postseason NAIA National Tournament. It ranks teams through their modified winning percentage, their opponents' winning percentage and the cumulative ranking points from the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.

Defending national champion Lindsey Wilson overtook the Warhawks atop the rankings with a MRPI of 0.914724. AUM checked in just percentage points behind at 0.901533, while Concordia (Calif.) was third at 0.881042. Rio Grande (Ohio) and Science & Arts (Okla.) rounded out the top five at 0.878396 and 0.873496, respectively.

Since 2010, Lindsey Wilson becomes the sixth different team to hold the top MRPI spot, joining Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) (1), Hastings (Neb.) (2), Mobile (Ala.) (1), Rio Grande (Ohio) (2) and former NAIA member Simon Fraser (B.C.) (2).

Along with the Warhawks, several other Southern States Athletic Conference teams were ranked in the top 15. Belhaven was ranked eighth, following by Southern Poly at nine. Southern Wesleyan was 15th.

The NAIA releases its final index on November 11.

AUM is currently 12-3-2 on the season and 7-2-1 in the highly competitive SSAC. The Warhawks close their regular season on Saturday by hosting Faulkner at 7:30 p.m., at the Emory Folmar YMCA Complex.
