TEMPE, Ariz. ----- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its updated NCAA Division II rankings earlier this week and for the first time in the NCAA era the Auburn Montgomery women's tennis team earned a national ranking.
The Warhawks, currently 12-3 on the season, earned the No. 30 ranking in the nation and was also ranked No. 10 in the South region. This season, AUM has played eight games against teams ranked in the top-50, posting a 5-3 record in those matches. The Warhawks have seven matches remaining, three (No. 4 Armstrong State, No. 15 Midwestern State and No. 24 Cameron) of which are against top-50 teams.

Kelly Southwood was among the top-20 singles players in the South Region, checking in at No. 14.
A native of Wellington, New Zealand, Southwood sports a 12-2 record for the Warhawks this season, playing at the top two spots in the lineup. At the No. 1 position, Southwood is 8-2, while she has recorded a perfect 4-0 mark at the No. 2 spot. On the year, she is 1-1 against national-ranked singles players. In doubles play, she has paired with fellow senior
Celine Lenertz to post a 13-2 record.
The nationally-ranked Warhawks will return to action on Tuesday, March 28, when they host future Gulf South Conference foe Mississippi College at 1:30 p.m.
